Principal's Message

Welcome to Lafayette Elementary School! I am proud to be the principal of this thoughtful, engaging, and kind community of learners. 2024 - 25 marks my third year as principal of LES. I began my journey in the Lafayette School District in 2015. At LES I taught third grade for three years and then was the school Reading Specialist for two years. I had a unique role for two years, serving as a part-time Assistant Principal at Springhill and the rest of my time I worked closely with the Assistant Superintendent to support teachers with curriculum and instruction. Before my time in Lafayette I worked as a Reading Specialist and Literacy Coach in San Francisco Unified for five years. I started my career in the Boston area as a fifth and sixth grade teacher. I truly enjoy elementary school and I know the enormous responsibility that comes with supporting our young learners academically, socially and emotionally.

Personally, I have lived in the Bay Area for thirteen years, but I am a Connecticut native. I attended college at Boston University for my undergraduate studies and then Lesley University in Cambridge, MA for my Masters in Reading. I earned my Administrative Services Credential at St. Mary's College in Moraga. I live in Lafayette with my husband and two kids who also attend Lafayette schools. I truly enjoy living out here in the Bay Area and appreciate all that it has to offer.

I hope that you come to love and appreciate the LES community as much as I do. I look forward to our partnership as we work together to support our students. You have landed in a truly special community!

Assistant Principal's Message

As we embark on a new academic year, I am delighted to reintroduce myself to you. My name is Chloe McArthur, and I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal at Lafayette Elementary School for the second year.

The past year has been a remarkable journey of growth and learning. I have had the privilege of working alongside our dedicated staff, supportive parents, and, most importantly, our incredible students. Together, we have celebrated many successes and navigated challenges with resilience and a shared commitment to our school's mission.

As we continue to build on this strong foundation, my focus remains on fostering an inclusive, safe, and nurturing environment where every student can thrive. I am passionate about supporting our teachers in delivering high-quality instruction and ensuring that every child receives the attention and resources they need to succeed. Collaboration is at the heart of our work, and I am committed to engaging with our community to create a positive and enriching school experience for all.

This year, I look forward to deepening our partnerships and welcoming new families into our school community. I encourage open communication and invite you to reach out with any questions, ideas, or concerns. Your input is invaluable, and together, we can continue to make Lafayette Elementary a place where every student feels valued and inspired.

Thank you for your continued support and trust. I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and am grateful to be part of such a wonderful community.
